The Play: 1 is a good start especially if you want high-quality affordable speakers since it costs $200. Its price is lower than most high-end home theaters.  Yet its sound quality matches that of systems retailing at prices higher than it.
If you want higher sound quality for your big rooms, then the higher-end Play: 5 creates high-quality surround sound on its own, so you don’t need a separate amplifier. Its wireless subwoofer can be paired with any Sonos speakers to add base to music playback.
Furthermore, you can add Sonos to your TV using a Play bar or Play base (a pedestal speaker from the company).  You do this by pairing the sub with two other play units to form a 5.1 surround system. However, you can still opt to buy the full 5.1 channel surround system.  This saves you the hassle of balancing the sound quality. Lastly, one of the main reasons why Sonos is very appealing to most people, is its simple setup process and the easy to use controller app.
